Our Programs
Primary School
The Montessori Stage 2 is designed for children from 6 to 9 years of age (Years 1, 2 and 3) who preferably have attended the traditional Montessori NIDO and Kindergarten programs.

Stage 3 is similarly designed for children from 9 to 12 years of age (Years 4, 5 and 6). The children continue to learn from and assist one another in their classroom community, which is surrounded by an environment suited to their developmental needs.

Expanding Learning and Inquiry
All subjects from the Early Years curriculums are greatly expanded in the primary curriculum. Their minds focus not on facts and names but on relationships. The reasons ‘why’ and the ‘how’ fascinate them. The materials found in the primary classrooms enable the children to explore past, present and future. The children see an overview of particular concepts and areas of knowledge and then focus on the specifics.

In a Montessori classroom the teacher is constantly on the move, overseeing, advising and assisting as necessary. The teacher may give a lesson to a small group here, to an individual there and always with reference to the individual needs of the children in the class. Throughout these Primary years social awareness grows.
The Montessori Three-Hour Work Cycle
The Montessori work cycle is a fundamental aspect of the Montessori approach, providing children with an uninterrupted period of time (3 hours, 9am - 12pm) to engage in purposeful, self-directed learning. During this time, students choose activities based on their interests and developmental needs, fostering deep concentration, independence, and intrinsic motivation.
Guided by the prepared environment and the Montessori teacher, children move through a natural rhythm of selecting work, engaging in hands-on exploration, refining their skills, and making discoveries at their own pace. The cycle encourages responsibility, problem-solving, and a love of learning, as students develop the ability to manage their time and follow their curiosity.
By honouring each child’s individual learning journey, the Montessori work cycle nurtures focus, perseverance, and a strong sense of accomplishment—essential skills for lifelong learning.
