Parent Toddler Program

Montessori Playgroup for children aged 12 months - 3 years who are independently walking

The Parent Toddler Program (PTP) is a weekly two-hour session specifically designed to cater for your child`s increasing desire for independence and enthusiasm for learning. The program offers the opportunity for parents/carers to experience and share the Montessori philosophy of education with their children. It lays the foundations of future learning by developing a broad range of skills to foster independence, self-discipline and concentration while also educating the senses (e.g. visual, auditory, tactile). The program responds to the child`s absorbent mind and strong sense of order, which is particular to this age group.

The Montessori Parent Toddler Program involves discussion, participation and observation. It supports parents in understanding the developmental needs of their young children. It aims to engage parents in furthering their understanding of Montessori Education, it`s philosophy and application. The sessions are led by an experienced Montessori guide. Children attend with a parent/carer from the time they are walking independently and confidently, typically from twelve to eighteen months until they turn three. The prepared environment is specifically set up to foster your child`s growing independence, with child-sized furniture and developmentally appropriate equipment and activities. The program reflects the needs of the child in many different areas.
